Frequently Asked Questions

What subjects do you teach?

  • I teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, Statistics, Calculus AB/BC, Physics (Honors, 1, 2, and C), Chemistry (Honors and AP.)
  • I tutor for the ACT in all four subject areas (Reading, Math, Grammar, Science) and the SAT in all four subject areas (Reading, Grammar, Math w/no Calc and Math w/Calc.)
  • I have a great deal of experience preparing students for their IB exams in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (both SL and HL.)
  • I am also an experienced math coach for math competitions and would be happy to assist with preparing you or your child for MathCounts, Mu Alpha Theta, the AMC, or any other competition you might be interested in.

Do you offer online tutoring?

  • Yes!  In fact, the majority of my students have expressed to me that they prefer online to in-person sessions due to the convenience of scheduling, the ease in sharing resources such as study guides and online homework programs, and the ability to record our sessions for later independent review.  I have had students all over the country reach out to me for help, so please don’t let distance be a factor!

Do you offer group sessions?

  • Yes, provided they are learning the same subject (and ideally have the same teacher); please see below for pricing on groups.

What is your rate?

  • For new clients: $60/hr.
  • For groups:
    • Two students: $70/hr ($35/hr/student)
    • Three or more students: $25/hr/student

Do you tutor college courses?

  • Yes, as well as college-level test prep such as the GMAT and GK exam.

When are you available?

  • I have a very busy schedule during the school year, though I do work with students every day other than Friday.  During the summer I’m generally much more flexible – mornings, afternoons, and evenings are all an option! If you’re interested in a time slot with me, temporary or permanent, please contact me and I will let you know what I have available in my calendar.

What should my child bring to the session?

  • I generally expect that a student bring any tests or homework that they would like to discuss with me, as well as the the usual school supplies like calculators and paper and such.  I also expect that they have a good idea as to what topics or subjects they would like to discuss that day and, as I often assign homework from week to week, the completed homework from the prior session.
  • SAT/ACT students should also have a practice test completed, graded, and corrected to the best of their ability before our first session – I’m happy to provide one if needed.
